Stage 1 in the books..

Jenny just left me a voicemail and she has completed her first day of running. 56.6 miles in just under 14 hours. She did an extra 5 miles because the French (is Horton part French?) don’t mark their trails very well and Jenny got a tad lost. She feels good and is right on schedule despite the small detour and nearly 27 hours in travel time getting to the start of the trail. Another fun moment for her was finishing for the day and not finding an open hostel. She had to take a taxi two towns over to find a hotel. She plans on taking a taxi back in the morning to continue her run and another 50 or so miles.

Jenny’s mom and stepdad took off from Dulles this evening with Ryleigh in tow. Hopefully, she will not cause any international incidents (unless it involves the French). I am not sure who has it tougher – Jenny running through 50 miles or my in-laws navigating the Spanish motorways with a crabby 5 year old. Please pray for them all.

OH MY LORD! I am so proud!!! Awesome news…I thought about her all day. I can’t even imagine how tired she must be. Glad she isn’t running the extra miles and taking a taxi! WOOHOO JENNY!

  2. Cory- Send Jenny my love. I thought of her all day long..especially this morning when I was in the mts. running. Even talked about her…alot! So happy she had a good day. But not finding a hotel when you are tired had to be the pits.

Anyway- tell her just take one step tomorrow…then another…and another…until she gets to the end of the day. 🙂

    SImple, huh?

  3. Kimberly Henry says:

  4. Jason and Larissa says:

Glad to hear she started off well. We’re thinking of her and wishing her great success.

  5. Lisa Antley says:

Eric (one of Jenny’s 10th grade students) and I are sending her good thoughts and discussing her courage every day! We are rooting for her and simply can’t imagine the journey….we are lowly cross country runners who log less than 25 miles in a week! We can’t wait to see the pictures of her arrival! Go Jenny Go!
