My Cause

Posted: October 27, 2010 in Uncategorized

I am running to support the International Rescue Committee.

To see more about this incredible organization please check out my IRC page and check out this great video:

Women and girls uprooted by conflict likely walk miles a day. Yet they are not training for a race or building endurance–they walk great distances to gather firewood and clean water to provide for their children and families, putting their lives in danger as they fight to survive. Your donation will help refugees who have been forced to flee war, persecution, or natural disaster. At work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, to restore safety, dignity and hope, the International Rescue Committee leads refugees in their journey from harm to home.

My pilgrimage is nothing in comparison to the life and death journey others are facing daily around the world. I will run for them and their individual stories. There are so many and I will choose one a week to feature here on this site. Hopefully, one will touch your heart like they have mine.

  1. Jen,

I teach students who live in C’Ville and have come to us through the IRC. What an amazing organization—and an inspirational cause you will be bringing awareness to. So proud of you, and so excited to share in your training and the journey itself! Keep me posted!
